Madrid, Spain (AHN) - Seve Ballesteros was released from the intensive care unit but will remain at Madrid's La Paz hospital to continue his rehabilitation, the hospital said in a released statement Tuesday.
The golf legend underwent three operations in less than three weeks following brain tumor and swelling around the area. His operation on October 24 lasted six and a half hours.
The 51-year-old European Tour standout was taken to La Paz on October 6 after feeling dizziness at Madrid's international airport. He was diagnosed to have tumor on his brain within the next several days.
The hospital could not determine when Ballesteros will be released. Visits, though on a restricted basis, are now being allowed for the five-time majors winner.
Back in his prime, Ballesteros won a record 50 tournaments on the European Tour and helped Europe take the 1997 Ryder Cup title in Spain.
He retired last year following a series of bouts with back pain then began concentrating on designing golf courses.
