Alexander Wang Wins 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award

New York, NY (CNS) - Young designer Alexander Wang has won the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)/Vogue Fashion Fund Prize at a star-studded affair at NYC's Skylight Studios on Monday night.
The 24-year-old won a whooping $200,000 and a year of mentoring from the top names in the business by beating out nine other finalists including Vena Cava, Juan Carlos Obando, Obedient Sons & Daughters, and Richard Chai.
Runner-ups Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava and Albertus Q. Swanepoel of Albertus Quartus won $50,000 and a business mentor. CFDA President Diane Von Furstenberg, John Galliano, Francisco Costa, Narciso Rodriguez, Reed Krakoff, Vera Wang, and Zac Posen were key guests.
Past successful winners of the award include Doo-Ri Chung, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, and Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy. The prize has helped shape the careers of designers who have won it in the past five years.
