Five Different Players Score; Devils Overpower Islanders

(AHN) - Newark, NJ (AHN) - David Clarkson and Travis Zajac scored 10 seconds apart late in the first period, helping the New Jersey Devils notch a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders Friday night.

Clarkson's goal came on a power-play and was his fifth of the season, while Zajac's tally was his third and both were on tip-ins.

David Johnny Oduya and Brian Gionta notched assists on Clarkson's goal.

Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise got the helpers on Zajac's goal.

The Devils outshot the Isles 12-9 in the opening period.

The teams traded goals in the second period, with the Devils maintaining their two-goal lead after 40 minutes.

Andy Hilbert and Sean Bergenheim potted goals for the Isles, while Bryce Salvador and Brian Gionta countered for the Devs.

The Isles piled up 14 shots in the second period, while the Devils collected nine.

Joey MacDonald took the loss in goal for the Islanders, while Kevin Weekes recorded the win between the pipes for the Devils.
