Kareem Shaker - AHN Sports Reporter Cleveland, OH (AHN) - Cleveland Browns General Manager Phil Savage apologized to a fan Thursday for using a profane word in an e-mail response. The interaction occurred during the Browns 29-27 win over the Buffalo Bills Monday night. The fan, identified only as Brett, sent sent Savage an e-mail at 11:37 p.m. while the Browns were ahead in the game. He called Savage "the worst GM in the NFL" and mainly questioned why the Browns don't use running back Jerome Harrison more. Savage responded at 12:17 a.m., 23 minutes after the game ended with the alleged reply: "Go root for Buffalo -- f---you." NFL spokesman Greg Aiello indicated there is no need for action against Savage, but added that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell held team executives and employees accountable for violations of the league personal conduct policy. Savage was named Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Cleveland Browns on January 6, 2005 after serving as Director of Player Personnel for the Baltimore Ravens. After a 10-6 2007 season, the Browns signed Savage to a three-year extension through 2012 on May 2, 2008. The Browns are 4-6 through Week Eleven this season, third place in the AFC North and 3.5 games behind Pittsburgh.
