Veteran Quarterbacks Face Off As Streaking Jets Visit Unbeaten Titans

Nashville, TN (AHN) - When training camp opened, Brett Favre was sitting at home on the couch and Kerry Collins was practicing with the second team behind Vince Young on the depth chart.

Now Favre leads the first-place Jets into Tennessee Sunday to face Collins and the unbeaten Titans in the most highly anticipated game of Week Twelve.

The Jets (7-3) bring in a four-game winning streak to try and stop the Titans (10-0) from becoming the 13th team in NFL history to open a season 11-0.

The 39-year old Favre threw four interceptions in the first two games of the streak to just two touchdowns, but has stayed mistake free over the last two while connecting on three scores.

The 35-year old Collins has spent most of the season managing the game well enough to let his running backs and defense secure victories.

Against the Bears two weeks ago, the running game was held quiet while Collins took over to lead the Titans and finish with 289 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

A 14-3 halftime deficit against the Jaguars last week forced the Titans to go to the air and Collins responded with three second-half touchdown passes to finish with 230 passing yards.

The Jets are first in the AFC in scoring offense with 28.9 points per game and fifth in total yards with 336.5.

The Titans are fifth in scoring offense at 24.4 and third defensively in total yards allowed with 281.8.

The winner may set the scene for a possible rematch in the AFC championship game come January, and cement its standing as the AFC's best with five weeks left in the regular season.
