Moundsville, WV (AHN) - A West Virginia woman is accused of burning the word "wimp" into her 6-year-old daughter's neck.

Tammy Smith, 43, is facing five counts of child abuse and malicious assault felony charges.

Smith's daughter told police her mother burned cigarettes into her neck because she was angry with the girl for tripping and falling.

The burns were noticed by a teacher at the girl's school. The teacher took photographs of the burn wounds and called police. The girl is in foster care. Smith is being held on $50,000 bond.
