Bangkok, Thailand (NewsBahn) - Denmark's Prince Frederik and Princess Mary are being evacuated from Bangkok.

The royal couple are being flown out of Thailand's capital in a private jet after violent protests against the government forced airports to close.

The pair - who had been on a four-day tour of the city - will be joined by Danish businesspeople on the emergency flight, which is set to take off from a military airport.

The plane is scheduled for a stop over to refuel.

The royal couple's tour marked the 150th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Denmark and Thailand.

During they stay in the country, Frederik and Mary visited the Danish Lifestyle Exhibition in Central World's Forum Wing where they were treated to a performance by a Thai martial arts stick fighter.

Glamorous Princess Mary also took in a fashion show at one of the city's biggest department stores while Frederik attended a Thai-Danish business forum at the Bangkok Convention Center.

The trip also included a meeting with King Bhumibol at the Hua Hin beach resort, a community medical centre specialising in diabetes and a charity dinner at the Ambassador of Denmark's residence.
