Palm Desert, CA (AHN) - Two men shot and killed each other at a crowded Toys "R" Us store in Palm Desert, Calif., adding to the nationwide violence that marred the busiest shopping day of the year, known as "Black Friday."

Alejandro Moreno, 39, of Desert Hot Springs, and Juan Meza, 28, of Cathedral City, were found dead at around 11:30 a.m. outside the store.

Police say two handguns recovered at the scene indicate the two men shot each other. No one else in the packed store was killed or injured during the melee.

The shooting happened the same day a Wal-Mart worker in Long Island, N.Y. was trampled to death by a mob of shoppers.

Witnesses say the men produced guns after women they were with got into an altercation with each other. The couples may have known each other, and had previous disputes, police said.

Witnesses said Meza was the first to pull out a gun, prompting Moreno to draw his gun and chase Meza down an aisle firing his weapon.

As the men ran shooting at each other, frantic shoppers dropped their purchases and sought cover.

Moreno and Meza were found dead outside the store.
