New "Fame" Teachers Include Megan Mullaly, Kelsey Grammer And Debbie Allen

Topics: MoviesLos Angeles, CA (CNS) - Five new teachers in the persons of Megan Mullaly, Charles S. Dutton, Bebe Neuwirth, Debbie Allen, and Kelsey Grammer have been hired to join the casts of the upcoming remake flick "Fame."

They are set to fill in the positions at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts in the film, which is based on the 1980 musical hit about a group of teen performers. Mullaly will play the voice instructor, Dutton will play the acting teacher, Neuwirth will play the dance teacher, and Grammer will play the orchestra conductor.
Allen, who played dance teacher Lydia Grant in the first film, is the only returning cast in the film. She will play Principal Simms in the updated and younger version, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
MGM Worldwide Motion Picture Group chairman Mary Parent told the website, "This picture is a celebration, a testament to people pursuing their dreams, so we set out to find talented actors who could both convincingly instruct onscreen and also inspire audiences."
The students will be played by Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Maughton, and Kay Panabaker.
