London, UK (AHN) - Robin van Persie's two goals in a 2-1 win against Chelsea might have saved Arsenal's season.

The win put Arsenal back in the title race in the Premier League and helped the team move back into the top four and cut the gap between them and Chelsea to seven points.

This turnaround is surprising as Arsenal looked completely overmatched by opponents and even had locker room turmoil early in the season.

Down 1-0, things looked dim for Arsenal.

Chelsea had not conceded a second-half goal all season. Arsenal, against all the odds, turned the game on its head with two goals in three minutes.

The first goal came at the cost of possible controversy in the 59th minute, with Van Persie offsides. But the violation was not called.

In the 62nd minute, Van Persie put Arsenal in front for good with his second goal of the game.

Chelsea have not won at home now for three games and this will only help Arsenal in the team's attempt to catch them.

December is a month of promise for Arsenal. Tuesday the team faces off against Burnley, who beat Derby 3-0 on Nov. 29.

Then on Saturday, Arsenal will face Wigan at Emirates Stadium, followed by games against FC Porto and Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough was scoreless in its last game on Nov. 29 against Newcastle.

If Arsenal is serious about getting back in the hunt for a championship, they will need to win some of these upcoming matches.
