Giants Move On From Burress Mess; Suspend Wideout For Rest Of Season

New York, NY (AHN) - Plaxico Burress has gone from Super Bowl hero to being embroiled in legal trouble after a gun he was carrying reportedly went off and hit his right thigh.
The Giants suspended Burress for the rest of the season Tuesday as a follow up to the incident, which occurred inside a Manhattan nightclub over the weekend.
Giants management said the move to dismiss Burress was a rather easy one, though not because the talented receiver has been well replaced in the lineup.
The classy organization wants him to focus on his legal and personal issues, rather than football matters.
"As we have said since Saturday morning, our concern is for Plaxico's health and well-being," Giants president John Mara told reporters. "This is an important time for him to take care of his body and heal up and also deal with the very serious legal consequences and other issues in his life. When I spoke with Plaxico he expressed great remorse for letting down his teammates."
