Colorful Display Of Attire Seen At Islamic Fashion Festival In Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CNS) - Tom Abang Saufi , the Malaysian fashion designer showcased her colorful line of clothes in the Islamic Fashion Festival in a Kuala Lumpur hotel in Malaysia. The IFF, which has entered its sixth year, concluded Thursday.

The festival opened last week and was attended by Malaysian royal princesses and corporate women. Vast array of designs including chiffon, crystals and black burqas were displayed on 1,000 outfits by top couturiers from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Pakistan and the Philippines.

Models were seen walking the ramp with silver-shot scarves sparkling with Viennese-made Swarovski crystals. Other designers whose work was showcased include Indonesian designer Ronald Gaghana and Malaysian ethnic Chinese fashion maverick Lee Khoon Hooi.

The IFF features top local designers such as Datuk Bernard Chandran, Datuk Tom Abang Saufi, Melinda Looi, Micheal Ong, Khoon Hooi, Albert King and well-known international designers such as Samual Wattimena, Ghea Panggabean, Sebastian Gunawan and Biyang from Indonesia, Jun Escario from Philippines, Rajesh and Anirban from India and Deepak Perwani from Pakistan.

Other items of display included evening gowns, prayer clothes, bridal outfits and full-body Lycra swimsuits from Indian Mughal carpet motifs. Malaysia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates take turns hosting the event.
