Lawrence, KS (AHN) - It seems like another dominant season is in the works for the Kansas Jayhawks. But from a college program that has gone 1,949-786 since its first season in1898, this is expected..

When you look at a record of 6-1, it's hard to say anything negative about such a thing, unless you're a Jayhawks fan.

The truth is, compared to their records in the past two years, they've averaged more than six wins for every loss they've taken.

Offensively, they've got Sherron Collins, Cole Aldrich and Tyshawn Taylor leading the way - a big-three punch that combines consistency with unpredictability.

Collins is the big point threat, putting up an average of 17.9 points per game this season. He's the team's main scoring threat, and the one player every team they go against focuses on shutting down.

Yet, to underestimate the 6'11 Aldrich is to give the other Jayhawks' players many chances to excel, as well.

Not only is he averaging 14.6 points a game, but he's also getting it done in the paint, recovering 10.4 rebounds a game.

One of the more unsung heroes of the team is guard Brady Morningstar.

While averaging only 7.3 points per game, the Jayhawks utilize his team leading three point percentage of 50%, and can count on him for 1.7 steals per game.

The team does not lack for talent, but it's the choices of the management that have made the Jayhawks one of the most successful programs in NCAA history.

They are guided by the sure, confident hand of coach Bill Self, who has gone 148-33 in his five plus years with Kansas.

He follows in the wake of the Roy Williams era, which lasted for 15 seasons, where the Jayhawks went 418-101 - it's been a long time since the Jayhawks have not had an active postseason... 26 years to be exact.

When you're dealing with a team composed of near-perfection like this - it's hard to get excited over a 6-1 start.

To the Jayhawks, and Coach Self, it's just another day in the office... with room for improvement, based on previous years successes.
