Chicago, IL (AHN) - Despite the signing of Boeing engineers of a new four-year contract with management which averted a second strike and the resolution of a two-month strike initiated by machinists, more delays are foreseen for the delivery of Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the earliest that Boeing could deliver the best-selling aircraft will be by around middle of 2010. But the Chicago Tribune, which cited someone close to the program, said the delivery date may be delayed further because of problems on scheduling of flight-testing for the Dreamliner.

Boeing spokeswoman Yvonne Leach said the company has yet to set a final revised production schedule for the 787.

Meanwhile, Boeing announced on Thursday its St. Louis site secured an International Organization for Standardization 14001 certification, the world standard of an organization's commitment to improve its environmental performance. Boeing said by the end of 2008, it plans to have all its major production facilities secure an ISO 14001 certification.

John Van Gels, vice president of Integrated Defense Systems Operations & Supplier Management of Boeing, said in a statement, "Achieving this standard provides a foundation on which we will continue to reduce our environmental impact by minimizing waste, increasing recycling rates and improving energy efficiency."
