Sydney, Australia (CNS) - Australian rock band will be paid a special tribute at Holyrood in recognition of their Scottish roots. The band's founding members Angus and Malcolm Young were born in Glasgow before the family moved to Australia in 1963.

Also, the former frontman Bon Scott was born in Kirriemuir, which also has a memorial in his honor. The motion - entitled AC/DC, We Salute You - calls on Holyrood to recognize the band's Scottish roots while noting their popularity continues to grow. It was launched by South of Scotland MSP Christine Grahame.

The salute also welcomes their forthcoming performance in Scotland. Formed in 1973, the band has sold more than 150 million records worldwide. Their recently released album 'Black Ice', their first studio recording in eight years, topped the charts in 29 countries selling six million copies.
