AHN Staff Atlanta, GA (AHN) - An underground electrical explosion struck a tourist district in Savannah, Georgia Monday morning cutting power in the city's downtown but causing no damage and injury. About 100 Georgia Power workers are restoring electricity in the commercial area until 8 p.m. and investigating the cause of the explosion. The 8:49 a.m. explosion blew manhole covers into the street and sparked separate fires that were put out by firefighters an hour later. The blast also broke some windows and prompted police to evacuate shoppers and pedestrians.
