Shannon Moore - Celebrity News Service Reporter Hampshire, UK (CNS) - Fantasy writer Terry Pratchett is continuing in the fight against Alzheimer's. The best-selling author has donated a signed copy of Making Money to be auctioned off at the Woodside Lodge residential home in Bransgore to raise money for the New Forest branch of the Alzheimer's Society. Pratchett is the novelist of the DiscWorld novels that have become best-sellers across the globe. He was diagnosed with a rare form of Alzheimer's disease in December of 2007 and made a donation of $1 million in March of 2008 to the Alzheimer's Research Trust. "I am, along with many others, scrabbling to stay ahead long enough to be there when the cure comes along," said Pratchett. "It is a shock to find out that funding for Alzheimer's research is just 3% of that to find cancer cures." David High, manager of the New Forest branch of the society talked about the fundraising saying, "Woodside Lodge are great supporters of the branch and have raised more than ?1,200 for us this year. We will be using the money to help set up new art and music groups and to fund a fourth outreach worker." Pratchett has been very vocal about his fight against the disease, appearing on television and radio interviews to discuss his diagnosis. He is currently filming a documentary series with the BBC that plans to follow him as he battles his illness.
