Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Ron Howard may be an Oscar-winning filmmaker, but many fans will always think of him as Richie Cunningham from "Happy Days" or even Opie from "The Andy Griffith Show." Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will take a look at Howard's life in film Monday night, in a special called "Ron Howard: 50 Years in Film."

Celebrity News Service is looking forward to Howard sitting down for an in-depth interview with film critic and documentarian Richard Schickel. The 90-minute special will trace the actor/director's career from a first-person perspective.

Howard will discuss each movie he has made, from 1977's low-budget "Grand Theft Auto" to major blockbusters like "Splash," "Backdraft," "Apollo 13," "The Da Vinci Code," "Parenthood," "EdTV" and the film that earned him an Oscar®, "A Beautiful Mind." He also will talk about his latest film, the eagerly anticipated "Frost/Nixon," in which Frank Langella will reprise his Tony-winning performance as President Richard M. Nixon and Michael Sheen will play famed interviewer David Frost.

Howard will talk extensively about his career as a child star in such movies as "The Music Man" and "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" and the landmark television series "The Andy Griffith Show." Howard, whose fame grew when he starred in the movie "American Graffiti" and the TV series "Happy Days," will describe how these experiences influenced him as a filmmaker. The interview will be peppered with memorable scenes from Howard's extensive career.

"Ron Howard: 50 Years In Film" will air Monday on TCM at 8/7c and again at 11/10c.
