Topics: NFLCleveland, OH (AHN) - The Browns have told New England Patriots VP Scott Pioli that they need a decision on their top executive job offer, and they need it by the end of the day.

Pioli was offered the position of the Browns' top football executive, and he met with Browns owner Randy Lerner Wednesday about coming to Cleveland.
The Boston Herald reported the offer to be nothing short of carte blanche over the franchise, with full control over every football move the Browns make.
It also came with a substantial dollar value in writing.
The Browns aren't the only team courting Pioli. The Chiefs have asked permission to speak with him regarding a potential offer, and the Denver Broncos have also shown interest in speaking with him.
The Browns will also be meeting with Atlanta Falcons president Rich McKay, as well as former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.
Other names that have already sat in Lerner's office include displaced Jets coach Eric Mangini, and Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
In addition, ESPN reports that Tennessee defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels also met with them.
Both have roots in the area, with Schwartz having developed Browns' personnel in the 90s, and McDaniels having grown up in Canton, Ohio.
