Chapel Hill, NC (AHN) - Tyrese Rice scored 25 points, including several clutch free-throws down the stretch, as Boston College opened up ACC play with an 85-78 stunner over UNC-Chapel Hill Sunday.

BC used scoring runs of 21-9 in the opening half and 16-4 in the second half, knocking off a team that came into the game ranked No. 1 in the nation by several polls.

Rice was superb, adding eight assists and five rebounds for the Eagles, who improved to 13-2 and should move into Top 25 polls.

Rakim Sanders added 22 points, seven steals and six rebounds for BC, which hit 46 percent of its shots.

Reggie Jackson netted 17 points off the bench, including nine points in the key second half run.

North Carolina (13-1) struggled with its shooting all the way around, hitting just 38 percent from the field, while missing 12 free-throws.

Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson and Danny Green combined to shoot a miserable 12-for-38 in field goal attempts.

Hansbrough led the Tar Heels with 21 points, nine rebounds.
