Seattle, WA (AHN) - Authorities from Port Angeles, Pierce County, Tacoma and the Washington State Patrol on Monday found in a dump site the body of a baby boy killed and thrown away by his mother.
The tiny body was found at 2:10 p.m. with the help of heavy equipment that sifted through 60 tons of garbage. The State Patrol crime laboratory is conducting DNA test to determine if the infant was the son of a 16-year-old Port Angeles girl who has been arrested and charged with murder.
The girl is in police custody at a Challam County juvenile detention facility and the country superior court on Monday set her bail at $500,000. The girl's father was also arrested and jailed at the county jail on charges of concealing a birth and illegal possession of firearms and drug.
A woman reported to police on Friday that she saw a baby inside a trash can at the back of the suspect's house. Police found the trash can empty when they arrived prompting them to search the dump site near Tacoma.
