Speculation was rife in recent weeks that the 62-year-old wife of the outgoing 43rd president was in talks with publishers about a book deal. Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, said in a press release on Monday it had won the right to publish her memoirs and that the book will be "an intimate account of Laura Bush's life experiences, including eight years in the White House."
Bush, who worked as a school teacher before becoming First Lady of Texas and then at the White House, said in a statement the book to be released in 2010 will tell "the stories of the extraordinary events and people I've met in my life, particularly during my years in the White House."
