"The Dark Knight," "Slumdog Millionaire" Lead Producers Guild Awards Nominees

Topics: MoviesLos Angeles, CA (CNS) - "The Dark Knight" and "Slumdog Millionaire" have both been nominated for best picture at the Producers Guild of America Awards. They will be both competing against Brad Pitt's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," Sean Penn's "Milk," and Frank Langella's "Frost/Nixon."

The films' nomination would mean an increased chance of winning the same prize at the Academy Awards, if last year's winner is any indication. Last year's Best Picture winner, "No Country for Old Men," went on to win the top prize at the Oscars.
For best animated feature, "Wall-E," "Bolt," and "Kung Fu Panda" are all tapped for the prize. And for the documentary feature, "Man on Wire," "Trouble the Water," and "Standard Operating Procedure" all made it to the shortlist.
The winners will be announced on January 24 in Los Angeles.
