Former Quarterback, Congressman And Cabinet Member Diagnosed With Cancer

Miami, FL (AHN) - Former congressman, secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, one-time presidential candidate and Buffalo Bills quarterback Jack Kemp has been diagnosed with cancer.

Kemp released a statement that he is undergoing tests to determine the origin of the disease and his treatment options. He did not disclose the type of cancer he has.

Kemp, 73, is the founder and chairman of the consulting firm, Kemp Partners.

Kemp (R-NY), was also former Sen. Bob Dole's running mate when he ran against then-President Bill Clinton in the 1996 elections.

He served as HUD secretary under President George H. W. Bush. Kemp played football for 13 years in the National Football League, the American Football League and the Canadian Football League.
