Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - The state-run Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has handed over its first license of Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN) to Fiber at Home Limited.

The license giving ceremony was held at the office of BTRC in the capital, Dhaka on Wednesday. BTRC Chairman Major General (rtd) Monjurul Alam handed over the license to the officials of the company.

Under the license, the Fibre at Home Ltd will be responsible for constructing the optical fibre-based telecommunication transmission network, its operation and maintenance, the BTRC said.

Using the NTTN facilities, the telecommunication service providers can extend their services to end users.

BTRC Chairman Manzurul Alam in the function said the telecommunication network would further be expanded through giving license to private organizations.

He hoped that internet penetration would certainly be increased through the initiative which will help in converting 'Digital Bangladesh.'
