Kris Alingod - AHN Contributor San Bernardino, CA (AHN) - A 4.5 magnitude earthquake rocked Southern California Thursday night but did not cause any casualties or major damage. The quake happened at 7:49 pm (10:49 pm ET) and was centered two miles from San Bernardino, the U.S. Geological Survey said. Only 8.8 miles deep, its epicenter was four miles from Rialto and 54 miles from Los Angeles Civic Center. There have been no reported injuries. Earthquakes are a frequent occurrence in California, which lies on several faults, including the San Andreas Fault, the San Jacinto Fault and the Sierra - Nevada Fault. The last earthquake to jolt the state was in July 2008, when a 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit Chino Hills.
