AHN Staff Las Vegas, NV (AHN) - One retiring doctor and her 80-year-old patient died Monday after the latter shot the former inside a Las Vegas clinic in an apparent murder-suicide. Internal medicine specialist Edna Almaden Makabenta, 56, and Eliceo Santos were found dead inside the examination room of her medical office at 2511 W. Charleston Blvd., according to Metro Police spokesman Officer Bill Cassell. The police are still investigating what drove Santos to shoot Makabenta. A colleague of the doctor with a clinic next door went to Makabenta's clinic and heard the scream of her assistant. Henfel Baria, owner of the West Charleston Pain Center, then saw Makabenta and the assailant lying on the floor of the exam room.
