Los Angeles, CA (AHN) - The Angels and manager Mike Scioscia have reached an accord that will keep him in Los Angeles through the next decade, with the deal running through 2018.

At present, the terms of the contract have not been finalized, but the contract is expected to be a 10-year deal, with an option to opt out after five years.

Scioscia's contract was set to expire at the end of next season, and he would make $2 million on it. In 2010, they would have the option to renew him.

Under Scioscia, the Angels enjoy a 803-655 record in nine seasons, including one World Series win in 2002, and have won the AL West four out of the last five years.

Scioscia, a former catcher, played in the MLB for 12 years, yet had only one team - the LA Dodgers, from 1980-1992.

During his career, he was a two-time All-Star selection and three-time World Series champion.
