New York, NY (CNS) - Director/composer Joseph Brooks, who won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1977, is being accused of five sexual assaults.
Brooks, 70, allegedly posted a Craigslist job advertisement for models and aspiring actress to lure them into his New York apartment. The women thought they were auditioning for movie roles when the director allegedly forced himself on them.
According to the allegations, two victims claimed they were given date-rape drugs, while others think their drinks were spiked.
NY Daily News said that the first of the said assaults took place in November 2006, wherein a 22-year-old woman said she was sexually abused at the Carlyle Hotel. Another assault accusation took place in May 2007 and three more in March 2008.
No charges have been filed.
Brooks won an Oscar for his song "You Light Up My Life," which is also the name of the film he wrote, directed and produced.
