AHN Staff Washington, D.C. (AHN) - A judge from the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C has ordered the release of a suspected al-Qaeda militant who has been detained at the Pentagon's facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba since he was 14-years-old. Judge Richard Leon issued the order after finding statements from two Guantanamo detainees were unreliable. As a result, Leon found there isn't enough evidence to continue holding Mohammed el Gharani, 21. Gharani, a Chadian national, was 14 when he was arrested in Pakistan and turned over to the U.S. military in 2002. Government prosecutors accused him of sneaking into Afghanistan to train as an Al Qaeda fighter, acting as courier of the terrorist group's members and fighting in the battle of Tora Bora. Gharani continuously denied all accusations against him.
