Samuel L. Jackson, Maria Bello, Abigail Breslin To Star In Indie Drama "Rape"

Topics: MoviesLos Angeles, CA (CNS) - Samuel L. Jackson, Maria Bello, and child star Abigail Breslin have all signed up for the Patriot Pictures indie drama "Rape: A Love Story."

Based on a 2003 Joyce Carol Oates novel, the story centers on a mother (Bello) recovering from a brutal gang rape who is stalked by the perpetrators but is protected by a concerned cop (Jackson). Breslin will play her 12-year-old daughter who witnessed the attack.
As per Variety, Harold Becker will helm from the script written by John Mankiewicz. Michael Mendelsohn will produce through his Patriot Pictures shingle.
Production will kick off in June.
Breslin, 12, is currently up for three films. She is set to lend her voice in the Paramount Pictures animated film "Rango" with Johnny Depp and in "The Wild Bunch." She will also co-star along Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone in the Columbia Pictures' horror comedy "Zombieland."
