London, England (CNS) - Celebrity chef Jaime Oliver has incurred the wrath of the fiercest animal protection organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, for his promotion of British pork.

PETA has targeted the former Naked Chef's flagship restaurant Fifteen to protest against his promotion of pork raised and sold in the U.K.

The move is a bit confusing for some, as Oliver's TV show, "Jamie Saves Our Bacon," features their investigation on the welfare standard of pigs, urging people to buy British products rather than cheaper pork from outside the country under poorer conditions.

His spokesperson told telegraph.co.uk that the chef was a "big supporter" of animal welfare, and while his London eatery serves meat, they serve the "happiest pigs you can get."

"They do seem to be protesting against somebody who is trying to help the situation."

However, for PETA, that is not enough.

They said, "The answer to saving pigs is not buy British pork, it's to go vegetarian."

Oliver's spokesperson continued, "It's a slightly odd place for them to be protesting but nonetheless they are welcome to do that. My main concern was that they would get cold."
