The decision largely hinges on the new man at the Wildcats helm--coach John Calipari.
Calipari met with his latest wards Tuesday in campus, with Patterson the first among his teammates to say he's impressed with the new tactician.
A post-up threat in the Wildcats' interior offense the last two seasons, Patterson told SI.com he's still not sure of his whereabouts next season and that he would talk to his family to finalize his decision.
His commitment is one area which Kentucky is keeping a close watch, the other being that of guard Jodie Meeks, who also remains unsure of his future plans.
Getting the two to stay for at least one more year would be a major coup for Calipari, who is tasked to bringing Kentucky back to its glory days. The Wildcats struggled to a 22-14 season--8-8 in the SEC--and missed the NCAA Tournament this year.
But Calipari should have a wide array of arsenal to choose from next season, considering only Jared Carter is graduating from the group.
Under coach Billy Gillispie, Meeks and Patterson led the team with averages of 23.7 and 17.9 points per game, respectively.
