Farrah Fawcett Puts Her Name On New Law To Prevent Medical Information Leakage

Sherman Oaks, CA (CNS) - Television icon and cancer patient Farrah Fawcett had the recent misfortune of discovering her confidential medical records were sold at a premium to the probing tabloids by a UCLA Medical Center employee. Advocacy rights group STOParazzi has received the support of the actress to push through "Farrah's Law" that would ease the prosecutorial process for the theft, sale and purchase of sensitive patient documents.

Now Farrah's indignity and compounded pain over the criminal release of her private medical information has been translated into a tangible good. Her campaign to stop that same trespass on privacy from happening to others has outraged many, including Terry Ahern, President of STOParazzi and champion of "Farrah's Law".

Ahern states that "the issue is the distribution of illegally obtained private information, to the press, not the exchange of money. Even if law enforcement is unable to prove money changed hands, that should make it no less of a crime...The detrimental effects of these leaks are the same whether the information is sold or given away for free."
