Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Rapper Dolla has been killed outside a shopping mall after a fight broke out. The 21-year-old hip-hop artist was shot in the head Monday just after 3 p.m. at the Beverly Center mall.
Dolla - real name Roderick Anthony Burton II - later died at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center after being shot near the La Cienega Boulevard entrance of the mall.
According to witnesses interviewed by Baller Status, a woman was seen firing a handgun, while other sources said a male suspect was detained at the Los Angeles International Airport as he tried to board a flight.
The other suspect was thought to have fled in a Nissan Altima and is still at large.
Police officer Karen Reyner tells BBC that Burton and the suspect had been arguing before the attack. After shooting him, the gunman fled in a silver Mercedes-Benz.
He was a member of the Elektra Records group Da Razkalz Cru in 2003. He had signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik label in 2007, and released his biggest hit, "Who the F--- is That?" featuring T-Pain in 2008.
