Penelope Cruz Struck Down With Food Poisoning In Cannes

Cannes, France (BANG) - Penelope Cruz has been struck down with food poisoning in Cannes. The Oscar-winning actress is in France for the prestigious Film Festival but had to pull out of a planned presentation of clips from new musical movie "Nine" after falling ill.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the film's producer Harvey Weinstein revealed: "She's got some kind of food poisoning. She's been really sick and is being treated by a doctor.

"Tomorrow night is her premiere for her movie, so she really wants to get better."

Penelope is believed to have fallen ill after eating fish on Sunday, but is determined to make it to the premiere of her other new movie "Broken Embraces" later today.

A source said: "She really wants to be there. Her priority is to get better for the event - no one wants to lose their Cannes moment."

"She was so disappointed because she wanted to enjoy the festival, but at present she's stuck in bed."

"Nine" - which also stars Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson and Fergie - is scheduled for release in November.
