New York, NY (CNS) - Kevin Bacon has called the help of the police after a thief ran off with his Blackberry phone in a New York City subway station.

According to New York Post's Page Six, the 50-year-old movie star tried to chase down the thief at Seventh Avenue subway station on Thursday, but the robber still managed to escape and is now at large.

Sources said that the robber swiped the original "Footloose" star's cellphone at 10:50 a.m. at the B, D and E station at 53rd and Seventh Avenue. Bacon then took off after the thief, but eventually lost track of the crook through the station's crowd.

It was also said that the actor called police to enlist their help in the return of the gadget.
