Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Charity organization Stand Up To Cancer has announced their newly recruited celebrity ambassadors for 2009 on Wednesday, with "Desperate Housewives" star Marcia Cross and Fran Drescher among those chosen.
The new ambassadors will become part of a team lending their efforts and time to help raise funds for cancer research.
The former "The Nanny" star, 51, successfully battled the disease when she was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000, while Cross' husband, Tom Mahoney, was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
Celebrities named as ambassadors include Kristen Dunst, David Archuleta, Dana Delany, Sharon Osbourne, Patrick Wilson, Mandy Moore, Sofia Vassilieva, Dave Annable, and Sally Field.
Laura Ziskin, member of the organization's executive leadership team, said, "We are eternally grateful for the continuing support of the Hollywood community who have lent their time and talent to this cause, and engaged the public to do the same."
"The entertainment industry generously offered this initiative the most incredible resources - we want to make sure that they know all of their hard work is going toward something monumental."
