"I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on 'Mission: Impossible 4,'" Abrams told TV Guide. "Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing."
Abrams, hot off the heels of his worldwide hit "Star Trek," hasn't signed on as director just yet but he will produce. He could direct the sequel, or the follow-up to this summer's "Star Trek," which is expected in theaters as early as 2011.
The third Abrams-directed "Mission: Impossible" film grossed over $400 million worldwide.
