Kansas City, MO (AHN) - The Kansas City Chiefs have inked long time Chicago Bears safety Mike Brown Thursday, after he was not renewed after a nine year career with the franchise.

Entering his 10th season in the NFL, Brown saw limited action in the last three years, only playing 22 games and suffering numerous injuries. He has missed 44 games in five seasons.

Chock full of talent, but with a glass jaw, the Bears forced him to sign an injury waiver in 2008, denying him payment if he was unable to finish out the season.

He had been injured three times before, sitting out most of three seasons.

In the games he has played, he's recorded 629 tackles and 17 interceptions, running four of them back for touchdowns.

Brown's 2005 performance, where he had 72 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 3 interceptions in only 12 games, was perhaps his finest. His efforts earned him a Pro Bowl appearance that year.

His place in the Chiefs depth is largely uncertain. He will likely be competing with Jarrad Page and Bernard Pollard for a starting position - or become their second string backup.
