"I am sick of the Michael Jackson coverage," Stossel said. "I hate it that ABC didn't run my piece."
Last Friday, the night after Jackson's passing, the network ran a memorial to the King of Pop. Stossel suggests his healthcare piece might have earned more viewers.
"Of course, maybe my bosses made the wrong choice," he wrote. "Maybe more viewers would have tuned in for my health care report. But the beauty of the market is that if they regularly choose wrong, they will go bankrupt."
ABC News senior vice president Jeffrey Schneider recognized that Jackson's coverage was important to the network. "It's a very big moment in the culture," Schnieder said of Jackson in a statement. "And it's a story that continues to develop hour by hour and day by day. There's enormous interest in it."
Stossel's five minute piece on Canadian healthcare, which included clips from previous specials, is slated to air later in the month.
