Pyongyang, North Korea (AHN) - North Korea has aired its first TV commercial of a locally-brewed beer and the advert was monitored in Seoul, South Korea on Friday.

The commercial showed a thirsty and sweaty miner holding a mug of frothy beer and young women in traditional Korean dress serving trays of beer to men in Western suits.

The beer named Taedonggang was dubbed the "Pride of Pyongyang" and promises to ease drinkers' stress.

The Taedonggang Beer Factory produces the alcoholic beverage using a brewery bought and shipped from Britain in 2002.

Commercials are rarely shown on the state-run television of the communist country.
