Ordonez' Run-Scoring Single Helpts Tigers Outlast Twins In 16 Innings

Minneapolis, MN (AHN) - Placido Polanco, Ryan Raburn and Magglio Ordonez each had run-scoring singles in the 16th inning, lifting the Detroit Tigers to a 11-9 win over the Minnesota Twins Friday.

The Twins were down 9-4 heading into the sixth, but scored five runs on homers by Delmon Young and Joe Crede and triples by Denard Span and Brendan Harris.

Span had five hits and two RBI and Justin Morneau, Milt Cuddyer and Young had three hits each for the Twins, who had 18 base-knocks in all.

The Tigers had 17 hits, including three from Polanco, who also drove in three runs.

Freddy Dolsi picked up the win, tossing three innings of four-hit, two-run ball.

He was the last of eight pitchers used by the Tigers, who started with Luke French, who allowed two runs and six hits over 4 2-3 innings.

The Twins utilized seven pitchers, with R.A. Dickey allowing four runs and nine hits over the final three innings, taking the loss.

The Tigers improved to 44-35, while the Twins fell to 41-40.
