Saginaw, MI (AHN) - After allegedly trying to rob a bank, a man was arrested while trying to bum a ride from an undercover officer.

Police said Mark White, 50, flagged down an undercover detective about three blocks from the Citizen's Bank location he'd allegedly tried to rob just minutes before, the Saginaw News reported.

Saginaw Township Detective Scott Jackson, of the auto theft division, slowed his vehicle to let patrol officer Ian Wagner to catch up to the suspect July 8. Just out of jail for three weeks, White tried to flee after Jackson identified himself as a police officer.

Police charged White with bank robbery, making a false bomb threat, attempted car jacking, assault with intent to commit a felony, and assault and resisting a police officer.

White was taken to the Saginaw County Jail and bond was set at $755,000.
