Bo Van Pelt won his first PGA Tour event Sunday with a birdie putt at the U.S. Bank Championship. He held off John Mallinger in a playoff.

Van Pelt went 229 starts without a tour win.

He made the two-putt birdie on the second extra hole. Mallinger settled for par on the second playoff hole.

Van Pelt found birdies on the 13th, 14th, 15th and 18th holes. He was bogey free Sunday inside a 6-under round to finish 13-under par.

Mallinger's bogey on 17 hurt his chances, but he birded the 18th to force the playoff.

Frank Lickliter finished in an 18th place tie. He started the final round atop the leaderboard and tumbled after two bogeys and a 73.

Greg Chalmers struggled down the stretch. He shared the lead after the first round and led after the second, but bogeys on 4 and 8 led to a tied for 15th finish.

Jeff Quinney was atop the leaderboard during the final round, but fell apart on the par-5 15th. He had a double bogey and finished in a tie for fourth with Dicky Pride and Jeff Klauk.
