India Confirms 115 More Cases Of Swine Flu, Total At 1,193

New Delhi, India (AHN) - India confirmed 115 more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Wednesday, putting the total number of cases in the country to 1193, the health ministry said.

Of the 115 new cases that tested positive for swine flu, 61 came from Pune, 24 from Mumbai, 10 from Bangalore, eight from New Delhi, four from Ahmadabad, three each from Kolkata and Hyderabad and one each from Shillong and Goa, according to a health ministry press statement.

So far, 5,729 people have been tested and 1,193 of them are positive for Influenza A (H1N1). A total 666 out of the 5,729 tested have been identified through entry screening, 1,086 people through contact tracing and the rest were self reported, the statement noted.

"Of the 1,193 positive cases, 589 have been discharged," the ministry said, adding that a central team is stationed in Maharashtra to assist the state government in instituting appropriate public health measures.
