Aspen, CO (AHN) - Colorado's Division of Wildlife is hunting down Tuesday a black bear that broke into an Aspen home and clawed a resident to prevent it from attacking other people in the area.

Perry Will, DOW Area Wildlife Manager, said the animal will be killed because it is too aggressive and dangerous to be relocated.

The bear forced its way into the victim's home Monday night and injured her with its claw. She suffered lacerations on her back and chest.

DOW said the bear may be the same animal that broke into or tried to enter other homes in the area. Wildlife experts believe the bear was looking for food in the town in preparation for its winter hibernation.
