Cincinnati, OH (AHN) - Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer may be watching their game against the St. Louis Rams from the bench Thursday.

Palmer sprained his left angle and didn't practice much over the weekend.  He was inactive Saturday, but passed the ball in some light workouts Sunday.

He'll likely rehab this week, rather than chance the injury to get worse.

The former USC Heisman Trophy winner had a season worst showing last year, playing only four games due to a partially torn ligament and tendon in his elbow.

In March, he was declared 100% fit, and participated in all of the team's offseason program and training camp.

Ryan Fitzpatrick filled in for Palmer for the majority of the season, passing for 1,905 yards, and earning a rating of 70.0.

The Bengals didn't resign Fitzpatrick after the season.
