Chicago, IL (AHN) - An Amber Alert for three Chicago kids missing since 2008 ended Friday after police found and recovered them in Mexico.

The Chicago police announced Friday that Oscar, Karla and Fernando Casanova were placed under the custody of a family member after they were flown to the city from Mexico City.

They were missing since April 2008 after their mother, Sofia Garcia, 30, was found dead inside the closet of their home in the Northwest Side.

Police are still investigating the homicide case.

Garcia's husband or boyfriend, Benito Casanova, 32, is not a suspect in the killing but child abduction charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued against him last year.

Casanova fetched the three kids from school before the killing of Garcia and a security camera from a gas station caught him with the children after the victim's body was discovered by her sister.
