Washington, D.C. (AHN) - A suspicious vessel that has entered a restricted area of the Potomac River has reportedly been fired on by a Coast Guard vessel.

CNN news is reporting live with video and details are sketchy.

It is reportedly very unusual for the Coast Guard to fire live rounds but security is tight because of 9/11 observances. The Coast Guard reportedly fired 10 rounds.

Warning shots have reportedly been fired at a small craft. It is not known if this is a small recreational craft unfamiliar with security at this site. No further information is availible at this time.

Traffic is still flowing on two bridges across the river near the scene.
